Enjoy Alford and Donside

Alford Golf Club

The welcoming clubhouse lies at the heart of the village and the golf course is cradled in the beautiful Howe of Alford. Easy-walking, level terrain takes the golfer through scenic, wooded and parkland surroundings with magnificent views of the neighbouring hills.

Most notably, the famous Bennachie Range provides a spectacular backdrop on many holes. Don't be deceived by the relatively short yardage, Alford is a test for golfers of all abilities, with fine true greens with some subtle borrows. If you on par, the short 16th surrounded by water and the demanding 18th with a testing tee shot and a mid to long iron for your second, you should have a good score.

The course was opened as a 9-hole course in 1982 and extended to 18 holes in 1992. The clubhouse offering full facilities was opened in 1994.

The course measures 5502 yards from the white markers, 5233 yards from the yellow markers and 4996 yards from the red (Ladies) markers. Although relatively short, Alford is a great test of golf requiring accuracy and concentration.

Greenkeeper Mark Spence and his team have the course in superb condition and the greens are highly regarded by members and visitors alike. The trees and burns are attractive features although these are perhaps not always fully appreciated by the golfer who has hit a wayward shot!
